How Exit Hate support people in 2026 Explained.

Extremism is very destructive to those involved and also to those around them, it often negatively affects every aspect of your life. From your mental health and wellbeing, friendships and relationships and can even affect education and employment. Sadly, nothing is spared.

Navigating these difficulties can be extremely challenging, as people are rarely sympathetic due to the topics and narratives that are being spread.

This can make getting support difficult.

Those involved as well as families and loved ones often feel fear and shame and this can make them feel like they are not deserving and prevent them from getting the help that they need.

We all want people to view us and our loved ones in the best light, so disclosing such personal and often disturbing information can be difficult.

Ask yourself, how would you even begin to ask for help and support on such topics?

Extremism is a really difficult subject to talk about, especially for those involved and their family and loved ones.

People are often horrified by the mere mention of the word, and more often than not, conversations shut down before they even begin.

Pairing that with the feelings of failure, fear, judgment and fear of retaliation or retribution means that people experiencing this continue on un-helped and unsupported and this can result in them staying involved, and all impacted suffering unnecessary damage and trauma.

Looking to challenge this, Exit Hate offers support to individuals involved, who want to leave and families with a loved one involved, because everyone is impacted, when someone becomes involved in extremism.

Moving with the times, support must be current and work with people, providing support to people the best way possible. Listening to people, the way we support people has now changed and this is because we want to support as many people as possible and also offer support in the best way possible.

So how do Exit support people today?

Having supported individuals and families since 2016, the support we have offered has always been fluid and offered people the best support we can.

As a small charity, this hasn’t always been what we would like to do , but with limited resources, we have to work within our limits and do what we can, when we can.

We are not an emergency service and work alongside Prevent and Act Early offering people support and guidance from a lived experience perspective.

Today our support looks like this.

Exit Hate Online Support Programmes.

Listening to service users during 2025, we realised that the way we operated had to change and from consultation with the people that matter, our service users, our approach is changing.

Today, Exit Hate now offer an online support programme, and this has been developed to provide advice, help and support to anyone that is either involved in extremism and wants to walk away or families, who have a loved one involved.

Providing a structured programme, there are various modules people can work through, boh from an individuals and family perspective. Developed by people who have been through this , we understand and care and this is why we are here, to offer non-judgmental guidance and support.

Included within each module, there are links, people can visit for more information, and a module overview, so people can a clear reminder of each module and service users can return as many times as they need to.

Available free, interested participants must register as a site member at www.exithate.com and then people will be able to access this service.

Once you have registered, and this process has been approved, you will be able to gain access by moving your cursor, over the online support tab and then clicking Individual or family support and then working through the various modules ( Please see article photo for guidance).

So, what do this programme look like?

Individual Support Explained

Developed by people who have been involved themselves, his programme is broken down into simple modules that cover a variety of subjects that anyone involved might be facing or have faced and need support.

From looking at involvement and its impact, we offer advice on ways to help people to understand their journey, look at the impact and finally offer guidance on ways  to walk away from involvement safely, and how people can re-build relationships with friends and family.

This programme isn’t about judgment, its about helping people evaluate involvement and highlighting to people, that people can walk away from involvement, rebuild their lives and have interests which aren’t extreme, including being patriotic and helping the planet, but in an inclusive way, which is positive, safe and actually achieves things.

Family Support Explained

Offering a family support programme, this has been specifically designed by people who have had a loved one involved themselves to educate and support families who are experiencing a loved one's involvement with radicalisation and extremism.

Within the programme you can find various modules that you can access at a time that is convenient to you, and you can work through them at a speed that is suitable for you.

The modules are broken down into simply easy to read sections, and cover and offer advice on many aspects that families and loved ones frequently face.

From getting a better understanding of radicalisation and extremism, we look at where and how you can get support, how to de-escalate arguments and how to have difficult and challenging conversations with the person involved, to your family and friends.

If at any time anyone has any questions, they can contact us by simply emailing info@exithate.org and one of our support staff will reach out as soon as they can.

To access either of the online support programmes, interested parties must register as a website member and this can be done by visiting www.exithate.com

Offering support to people, our main support service has been moved online, so this programme can be accessed from the safety and security of peoples own homes and be worked though at a time and pace that is convenient to them. This then reduces the need for appointments, which many people now simply cannot make due to work or family commitments and therefore by moving our service online, this now provides people with guidance, which they can access any time of the day or night, so it is easy, simple and something people can revisit, time and time again.
