The internet is a great place to connect, gain support, learn, and get entertainment. But it’s also a place where we can lose hours, scrolling through content, that doesn’t give us anything. This can waste time that we could be doing so much more.

As someone who has fallen into this trap on many occasions, this has led to the team over at Exit having lots of conversations about how we can reach people, have conversations, and support people, but not waste time and energy when we could be doing other things like being creative, supporting people, educating ourselves, being with friends, reading a book or simply outside, walking in nature, destressing ourselves from a very busy world.

From these conversations, Exit Hate has made a conscious decision to spend less time on various social media platforms so that both our supporters and staff/volunteers have more time to do other things. We will still post on social media, but it will be a lot less, with Facebook being our main social media outlet platform and you can find us here – https://www.facebook.com/exithatetrust/

Looking to do things differently, while we may still have a presence on different social media platforms, what we will be doing more of, is writing more blog posts, and putting more effort into developing other ways of communicating with each other, creating communities where we can talk about things in-depth. By doing this we hope that this will help people understand extremism better, including the journey into extremism, the journey out and what support individuals and families need when they have a loved one involved.

We will also be creating safe spaces where people can talk about Exit Family or individual support and developing a place where people who support the work of Exit Hate can learn more and get involved in supporting Exit by becoming an Exit Friend or befriender, further details will follow in another blog article coming later in the year.

Operating when people need us, our door is always open with people able to reach us by email at – info@exithate.org or by calling us on 0800 999 1945.

If this development in communication interests you and this is something you want to keep updated about, subscribe to our nesletter, check out the main page of this website and also please check out our blog at – https://www.exithate.com/blog

Moving forward, our decision is about managing time better, giving people back time to do other things, creating community and safe spaces and we welcome your support on this journey.
