Educated Families Against Extremism

ree

Today we are going to talk about why it is vital that parents and families educate themselves about extremism.

As parents, we are often told about the dangers of gang and knife crime, the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse and the dangers of sexual exploitation.

We are often told it is dangerous for our children to be walking the streets, it is even common now to see dispersal orders being used in many towns and cities to prevent that.

But what we are not made aware of is the dangers of radicalisation, extremism and terrorism, which is a fast growing concern and one that is impacting many.

This could be because the subject is often difficult to address or to talk about openly. It can make people feel uncomfortable as many people have conflicting views on the issues involved.

People do not want to be labeled or exposed and so the doors on conversations often close or never open.

Some people scroll past stories in the news, too saddened and distressed on how the world is.

We may glance at  stories or posts online, and dismiss those involved as foolish or mindless thugs.

Some may even believe that stories in the media are sensationalised for entertainment and views and are not real.

Then there are those who simply do not want to know or accept what is happening in the world around them.

Ignorance is not bliss though. And silence not only allows extremism but it also enables it.

If we educate ourselves on what is happening, then that can better prepare us in preventing extremism.

It can heighten our awareness which can result in fewer families being caught out by surprise, and it can allow us to develop our knowledge and understanding of the topic which can empower us to have difficult and challenging conversations when necessary.

So if you want to remain updated, and want to do so in a safe and designated space,

Here you can find all of the latest articles and information that is related to the extreme right wing, and all from reputable sources.
