Welcome to the Exit Advocate, the online public newsletter of Exit Hate.
Seeking to keep people updated and also provide links to useful resources and content, the Exit Advocate will be published ad-hoc, when needed.
Providing news updates, links and more, we will keep things short, as we know everyone is busy and will provide links people can look at if people want further information.
So, welcome to the Exit Advocate and please feel free to share this link with others.
Exit news...................
As we move into the summer months, this time tends to a bit quieter, as people get outside, feel less stressed and can often cope better than in the dark months.
This allows us to work on things like developing our outreach work and this Is something we are currently doing and if all goes to plan, we will announce some of the work we are working on, once everything is ready. We are working on a new mini-Podcast series and if there is anyone out there interested in either talking to us to do a podcast or writing a blog article, please get in touch. This can be because you have a lived experience of extremism or work in this area and want to share your experiences.
Wanting to make things easier for people we are going to move away from a traditional e-newsletter format, which we have used for years and move to putting the Exit Advocate, online here, on our blog page. This means it will be available for everyone, and people will be able to easily share the link.
Sadly, we won’t be allowing comments, as when we do, this often leads to people who don’t agree with what we do, simply abusing this opportunity and placing comments we’d rather not have to spend time deleting due to the content.
As many know we do not search for people and try and get people to leave extremism, that’s not our way. Instead, we are here for people who want to change and walk away, and this is the best way we believe of operating. People cannot be forced to change their opinions, it’s a personal journey and only the individual can decide if they want to walk away.

Online action ...................
Exit Hate understands that the battle for minds is taking place mainly online and if this is what extremists are doing, then we must be there to.
Believing in education is key, our approach seeks to offer a compassionate and undestanding ear, where we listen and offer alternatives where people can develop critical thinking and knowledge on what life is like being involved in extremism and how people are better off either not getting involved or if thye are leaving a building a lfe to be proud of.
Offering FREE resources, we do this so people have what is needed to challenge extremist narratives and show people there is another way. Seeking to develop critcal thinking and get people talking about extremism and ways to reduce it, we know have a number things that will help people, so what are they?

Exit Support
Exit Hate offers lived experience support providing a listening ear and a safe space to talk. Contactable via – email, phone, text and Facebook messenger, there are plenty of ways to get in touch.
Providing support, we seek to empower people to create positive change, either by walking away from extremism or by helping a loved one involved, step away.
We do not provide in-depth mentoring or long-term 121 support as we once did. As a small charity, run by volunteers and part time staff, we simply are unable to do this. Instead we seek to help people on their journeys, empowering people, providing links to professional support and being there for people when they need someone to talk to. Providing a listening ear we make sure no-one is alone.
Offering an online support programme, today families and individuals can register with us and then be placed on our online support programme where registered participants then work their way a number of modules looking at the impact of extremism on people, their families and futures. Empowering people to help themselves this programme assists people to better understand how extremism can impact people and how people can , if they wish, change and walk away from extremism and rebuild a life away from extremist influence. If this is something you feel you need, please get in touch with us at: info@exithate.org
and we will send you a registration form. Please note that this service is currently being revamped and will be avaliable from August 1st.
Truth or Fiction?
When you read or hear something, how often do you question these two things? First the accuracy of the information that you are receiving and second the reliability of the source of that information?
Many of us take things at face value, and more so when we hear it from someone that we know well such as a family member or friend.
And we are more likely to pass on and share information when we receive it from someone we trust.
Misinformation is when you share false information by mistake without the intent to deceive.
Disinformation is when you create and then spread false information deliberately intending to deceive people
This is why we should all be much more mindful of what we share.
You can do that by sparing a few minutes and just check and listen to or read the information carefully and research what you have been given/told and check multiple sources to ensure that the information is factually correct.
And if you’re in doubt, it is always best to leave it out.
Will you protect, or will you enable?
If you are aware that someone has displayed or expressed extreme views or narratives, then you have a duty of care to vocalise those concerns to someone that can find help and support for that individual.
Do not tell yourself that it is not your responsibility or fear getting that person into trouble.
If you do nothing, this will only enable their behaviour, and the reality is that your silence will put them at a greater risk.
If you want to protect them then you need to help them to get them the help and support that they need.
To do that all you need to do is to let someone know. It really is as simple as that.
You could talk to Act Early, Prevent, local authorities, teacher, colleague, safeguarding lead, GP or health practitioner, or a trusted friend, family member or loved one.
With the support people can and do change, and by simply reporting your concerns, you could have potentially saved them from going deeper down a dark path, and improved their prospects for the future, but you may have also prevented a lot of heartache and pain for many others.
And finally.................

Can you help Exit Hate? Don’t worry, this isn’t a request for money, but maybe you have a skill that would help us. Can you design social media content, create films or music.
Would you like to do a podcast or write an article, can you help with printing, there is a lot we need help with. If can help in anyway and would like to support our work, please get in touch at – info@exithate.org and let us know how you can help.
Until, next time.
STAY SAFE.
The Exit Support Team.
